Today we had the challenge to write 100 words (no more, no less) using this prompt:
We had 30 minutes to write, revise and edit.

As I slowly and very happily walked to school
I saw a very very weird fool
Then … as I turned round it changed shape…
was then shaped a bit like an ape
I started to run I ran as fast as I could
Well as fast as my legs would
As I turned around it changed shape again
This time it was shaped like a chain
I wondered what it was it wanted
It looked a bit haunted
But I stopped
It then hoped
Closer and closer to me
I hugged the tree
Though it just wanted a friend

Shapeshifting ally…
This creature was no ordinary creature, this hideous… THING!! Was not normal. It had all sorts of things, but the things this monster had I can not describe.I didn’t run into the monster, but… I, I jinxed myself, so slowly… as I turned round it changed shape… from one to another! If you were in my position you would be so terrified that… never mind… A few moments later the shapeshifting creature was standing right before my eyes as I quickly turned around to go to the other direction the creature was already in front of me…

One Sunday me and my friend Ashley were walking through the forest when I bumped into a tree. “I’ve had enough of walking. Let’s go home” I said. When me and Ashley turned to go I heard a rustling noise. …as I turned round it changed shape… The tree was now Ashley! “What’s happening !” exclaimed Ashley. Then the Ashley clone turned into a purple blob with a derpy face. “what is that” I shouted. “Well I have a idea but it’s just guess” Whispered Ashley “I once read about an alien race called dittos. And They really hate humans…

I was in the kitchen making some salad for dinner. I needed some watermelon to finish the salad. I turned around to get a watermelon . I realised it wasn’t there. Then I looked back at the fruit bowl, the watermelon was there! So I went the get it. After I got my watermelon I placed it on my slicing board. I left the watermelon to get my knife…as I turned round it changed shape… It was a sphere a moment ago…now it’s a cube! I woke up surprised . Then I realised it was just a dream I had.

I wake up and see something maybe someone I’m not sure what it is …as I turn round it changed shape… But how don’t ask me because I have no idea at all. Maybe ask a monster like that one I don’t know. Suddenly that very moment I see a small tournedos coming out of the cube monster and it turn out to be my mum but how I wonder. I go straight to sleep and see the whole thing again in slow motion and see that it was just an illusion and that my mum was…

As I got stuck into a blackhole all I saw was a big black world…as l turned round it changed shape… Everything was 2D squares it was like a pixelated world. In the first three seconds of my pixelated life I was chased by a big red dragon could of killed me! Then I started to make a rocket ship that would fly me out of this world but I didn’t have the money for it so I explained how I got here a said if I could take some money but no. So I will be stuck here!

I was going home with my friend Eddie. When we got home I turned to look at Eddie and he had a glob of play dough he found under my bed and as I turned round it changed shape into a Allosaurus. we ran trying to escape we were almost eat’n eighteen times! But we got away we then had to alert the world. (secretly we wanted to see it eat someone) but then it would be killed and we wouldn’t be able to become millionaires. so the army came and we caught but were not going to become millionaires.

I was walking through the Arctic when I saw a bear. I quickly hid behind the wall of ice behind me …as I turned around it changed shape… I fainted. When I woke up again I saw a chicken, in the Arctic… I then saw it change shape again but this time I did not faint but my mouth dropped open. I then saw it change shape again but it was a leopard seal so tried to go near it then it became a cheetah so I ran away. What was this crazy, amazing, different creature?, was it a raven?…

” I mate a guy a different guy he was special he was odd
He made me laugh and made me smile
He didn’t know Mach about the world i didn’t know why i didn’t know how
He were a mask
pretty plain one to
it was black a white .
As I turned round it changed shape …
Not his feet not his hands but his head
He looked like he jumped right out of Minecraft
He had big head and really big eyes
But in a blink of an eye the guy was gone
I run home to tell my mum”

James,
The Dwarven Basilisk
I drop down my rope into the lost dwarven kingdom. I drop down the rope to the cavern. I walk to the massive podium in the centre but when I get there I see dwarfs frozen in stone with big bite marks. I wonder why they are stuck. I see a golden chest. As I near the relic I feel a tap, and then the I look behind… nothing. But… as I turned round it changed shape… into a gargantuan lizard with eight legs! A Basilisk. The last thing I felt was the cold hard stone pulsating through my blood.

A geoworld
We entered the puzzle. Issy and Ashley knew what was happening. We had been challenged to a test. Everything was geometric. The walls were all kinds of shapes. 2D to 3D but we kept trudging along. It was like everything was happening at once. Life, Death. I feel like I’m floating but I was on flat ground. The place was never ending. I had a look at my necklace and placed it down … as I turned round it changed shape… So did Ashley. She changed into a weird triangular watermelon. Issy changed into a stick. I think I’m dreaming.

Bounce?
It was a warm day and I was at bounce with my friends celebrating my birthday we had too jump for 4 hours. After i challenged Imogen for who could do the most tricks it was a tie. Then we went to play lots of fun games like dodgeball and when we’d finished we were so tired to that we couldn’t climb up the stairs we had to rest then when we got there we ate watermelon and as I turned around it changed shape the watermelon changed into an Axolotl which I gave too Issy who named it blob
Holly
…As I turned round it changed shape…
My mind was exploded by a huge ape, who wasn’t invited to his birthday.
The grumpy bear ate my pot of honey while I was enjoying a enchanted armchair.
I took my sword from my loan, which was just made out of bones …As I turned round it changed shape… no mess was found or an ape. I knew what change this life, it was just a triangle all right. But it was all dream. It was alright. Was it a dream? Cause I saw the honey last night, but it’s not here!

I was walking home into the city when I saw a huge, orange fire that was on a building. I quickly ran to my apartment and told my parents. They went to the window to see what was happening so I followed. Then, I saw a giant black blob that was climbing up on another building and when it reached the top, it set fire to the building. I went outside and the black blob continued doing its thing. I tried running but …as I turned round it changed shape… I ran but suddenly, I fainted and everything was black…

How can I do this, this is so hard.” ” There is no way I can do it, come on write a story with only 100 words!! No more no less.” ” It’s impossible to do.” “I can’t write a story less than 100 words or more.” ” For example if I’m at 99 words and if I need to put 2 words in it, is game over.” ” This is a nightmare.” ” Literally 100 number are in my mind right now.” 100!! 100!! 100!! “Stoooooppp!” ” This is so confusing.” ” O my god, I don’t want to do the challenge right now please.”

I was walking to school one nice sunny morning .I was feeling pretty good but all of a sudden things changed. I heard a scream, then I turned around I could see a enormous amount of people running ,it left me confused and scared, but most of all in total shock but. I thought to myself that I couldn’t run away. Because I was so curious to find what it was so then i took three big quiet steps. at first it looked blurry, so I went a little bit closer but…as I turned around it changed shape..

I was a scientist working on a project to time travel. So far I was going good, the time machine was almost finished and it will be in a couple of hours. 3 years later… My time machine was finished but it had to be tested first, so here I have my assistant Richard. He stepped inside and slammed the door, and I turned around to wait, but when I hear a crackling noise, I know something is wrong. As I turned round, it changed shape, into a gaping black hole. I tried to run, but it was too late…

Term 3 has gone so fast, that it’s already term 4. So far we have…
Drawn angles on the carpet with chalk, estimated their degrees then we learnt how to measure with protractors them before measuring their actual degrees. This helped us to learn how to measure angles and to estimate angles.
In writing we have another teacher, teaching us how to make better and quicker ideas. One technique she taught us was the “I see, I think and I wonder”. Which is when you bring a memory (seed) in, you write about the memory. Another strategy was “I can write about…”. This one helps you when you’re stuck on an idea for writing. We write things in our book that would be ideas. (For example, holidays, adventures, life, nightmares, dreams, ads, e.t.c).
In reading we have been on a website that would help us look for information about words that we didn’t know or that we have heard of. (The website was about parliament). We had to only us that website. One day we could use the search button on the website. Then the next day we could only use the websites links. It was really hard to find that information that we needed on the website. The website will be here.
The grade 4’s in our class went to camp with the other 3’s & 4’s. It’s been very quiet and peaceful without them, but they will be back by 06/10/16. We will see them on the 09/10/16. A blog will be about the camp next week at some point.
On the last day of Term 3, 4/5F went to the local cafe, Phat Milk, to do our Poetry Slam. We had been preparing our poems for almost four weeks and we were really excited about sharing them. You may be wondering what a poetry slam is… a poetry slam is when you go to a public area to perform your poem dramatically to an audience.
We were able to pre-order some milkshakes for $3.50. We chose five chocolate milkshakes, nine caramel milkshakes, three strawberry milkshakes and four blue heavens. There were very sugary and very cold, but also delicious! The milkshakes were very refreshing and they helped calm down our nerves. We did this to keep us occupied while watching and listening to the poems.
After we got our milkshakes we started to share our poems. At first, there were a couple of people getting shy about performing their poem. Some people went up with a friend so they weren’t as shy, some people memorised their poems and we all did amazingly. Everyone used the PIPES strategy to help make their poems sound great (P stands for projection, I for inflection, P for pacing, E for eye contact, S for stance). But by the end everyone had had a go and we all got through it quickly and smoothly.
After a while, the photographer from the newspaper finally showed up. He took photos of the class and specific people to go with an article that will be published in the local paper, the Moonee Valley Leader.
At the end, everyone was proud that we all got through it and no one was nervous anymore. We all felt very special that our class got to do a poetry slam at a cafe. We also were feeling very accomplished with what we had been preparing for, for a couple of weeks and we all improved our public and performance speaking.
Watch our performances in this video, and please leave us a comment!

On Friday, students had to dress up as their favourite book character and bring along their book. Also on this special occasion, we had Fathers Day store where all students buy a gifts for their fathers or any other dad figures. Anyway, having a book parade, we were all excited to show off some of our book characters. Also there was loud music playing down from the principal’s iPad. We saw so many book characters in the parade and some funny book characters too. Overall, we all had great time and enjoyed book week.
Here are some students from our grade wearing their favourite book characters. 😀
James: Dinosaur
Finlay: Skulduggery
Holly: Katniss (The Hunger Games)
Ellie: princess smarty pants
Khang: Pikachu
Jamie: Harry Potter
Issy: Abigail (playing Beatie Bow)
Sumaya: Hermione
What is your favourite book character and why?

We have classroom learning spaces. The purpose is to help people use their time and space wisely for learning.
The first space is Campfire, which is a place for the teacher to tell students come to the floor. When she says “campfire” everyone meets together on the floor. We use it to learn new things together. Next thing is a Watering hole. It is a place for learning in small groups, with our peers. Next is cave. It is an area to be alone so won’t get distracted from others peers. Second last one is Swamp. Which is for when we get stuck on a task or concept and need to meet in a group with an expert. Last one is Plains for when everyone is working independently, spread out wherever they need to work.
Feelings from classmates:
Holly: I feel like this space makes things easier than Mrs Fintelman saying come to the floor, instead she says “campfire.”
Ellie: I really like having different learning spaces. So everyone can learn differently but in their own learning space and way.
Finlay: I feel like the classroom learning space, it’s very organised.
Issy: I feel that these learning spaces are good and they are organised.
James: I love them they are the best idea ever, especially waterhole.
Imogen: It makes things easier for Mrs Fintelman to get us into our classroom learning space easier and more fun!
Kevin: It is where we listen to the teacher of what we are learning and what we do for.
Aysia: I think that it is great, It’s a wonderful learning space to have because it’s really useful,is helpful and it improve our learning.
Basila: I feel like it helps us and it is fun way to do our learning.
Anh: It helps us learn more easily, in different spaces.
Arky: It is helpful for learning and for me.
Ben: It is good for communicating around the room, so the teacher can get everyone on the floor quickly. It is good so we can learn how to do things really quickly and quietly. I think our classroom learning space is brilliant and everyone should use it in their classroom.

This week the grade 4,5 and 6s had some specialists from different religions. One was Christian, another one was Jewish and finally the last one was Muslim.
Christian facts and questions
They believe in God.
They pray in a church.
How do you connect with other people in different countries?
Girls can be priests.
Jewish facts and questions
Jewish people have different beliefs.
They can have different accents.
What events do they celebrate and why?
They don’t want everyone to be Jewish.
Muslim facts and questions
They pray 5 times a day.
They only believe in one God.
Why do you pray 5 times a day.
They eat halal food.
The big message…
All different people can all be together and get along like if you’re Christian, Muslim and Jewish or something else. It also answered our question ‘How can diverse groups benefit each other?’

On a Monday morning for two hours we watched the Olympics opening ceremony. Every fifteen minutes we stopped to discuss what we have watched so far and about diversity.
After recess we did activities about the Olympics opening ceremony. We had seven options to choose from. One of the options was making a mascot for if the Olympics were held in Melbourne 2020. Some of the other options were to design uniforms and a Olympics Logos. Some other options were to design a stadium, make an emblem, write a speech and many more.
Thanks for reading our blog post on the Olympics Opening Ceremony.
Here is some work from some of our classmates.

On the past two weeks we have been working on a film competition. It was really fun how we made a our films in two weeks.
There was several stages of making our films and they are called Development, Pre-Production, Production, Post-Production and Distribution. In Development you had to finish your script and storyboard, in Pre-Production you get set up, in Production the film is shot, in Post-Production the film is edited and in Distribution the film is made public.
By Friday 5th of August we had to finish the film and upload on the website. There was a certain subject for the film and it was diversity, our films had to include it in some way, like being in the war or explaining music.
You can learn more about us learning how to write scripts and create storyboards here.
